Getting Started with Joomla 1.6
Type www.(yourwebsite).com/administrator to access the module side of Joomla 1.6
The following screen will pop up.
This screen will allow you use the Username and Password that was provided to you from the IT department.
This will open up the module control panel like the one you see below..
In the picture below we have crossed out the following:
- User Manager
- Extension Manager
- Language Manager
- Global Configuration
- Template Manager
These functions are used to setup and create pieces of your website. They will be locked down for the safety of the customer and their website. Called 314-366-1815 for help in this area.
In the following picture there is a warning symbol that has been placed over the following:
- Category Manager
- Menu Manager
- Module Manager
Only the Webmaster and Administrator will have access to these areas.These areas will only be used to create new navigation menus and pages as requested.
The edit Profile Button in the bottom right area of your menu will allow you to access your profile information. This will allow you to change your username, password, and contact email.
The Media Manager gives you the option to load any type of media (pictures, advertisements, banners, pdf's) straight to your page. This will be used to load banners and other advertisements to your website. Every other type of media can be loaded from the article page and this step can be skipped. Creating new article can be done within article manager. This is where all data that is seen on the website can be accessed and edited. Please consult the article manager guide for more information.
